crewel piece done
Blocked, bound, framed.

It took me about 8 tries until I was happy with the last bit - the little yellow stamens or pistils or whatever they are.
I used only 3 orange tones for the meduim flower and 2 for the small one, instead of the 4 I used for the large flower. The effect is a little less blended, but I don't think I could have fit all the shades in the smaller spaces.
I bound the edges with white cotton bias, then used a strong thread and a zig-zag or spiral type stitch to pull the piece taut over a piece of book board that I cut to size. First side to side, then top to bottom.

The embroidery mounted on the board.

The finished size is 5" x 7".
I'm really happy with it. I had fun working on it, I got to learn two new stitches, and it turned out pretty!
I love crewel!
