Sweater photos

Pictures of the completed Retrograde .

The sleeves came out long, even though I measured them against a store-boughten sweater that my man assured me fits him perfectly. The yarn really stretched when blocking; it just seemed to exhale and relax itself out. But he doesn’t mind cuffing them, and I won’t mind shortening them in the future if the need arises.

Mods: when I got to the sleeve/body split, I panicked about the shoulders being roomy enough, so I knit an extra inch of yoke, then I added 10 extra sts to each underarm. In retrospect this was not the best move, since the split is now visible higher up in the underarm, but oh well. I probably should have made one size larger instead, but I chose the size based on chest measure, not shoulders.

I liked the yarn, Knit Picks Swish, but the needle size range recommendation (6-9) seems a bit broad to me. I used an 8 and it could have been a little tighter - a 9 would be way too large. But I am a bit of a loose knitter, plus I knew the yarn was just a bit thin for the pattern, so no surprise there.  While knitting it was pretty firm, but now it’s drapey.

This was a journey, and I think I learned a lot. That’s probably the best thing I can say about any project.
