Here's a few of the pictures of the group wearing the new dresses and dancing at irish Fair last weekend:

The overdresses/vest things are pink/gold silk dupioni.  We were trying to use them to make a lady/gent distinction in some of the dances so that the various patterns the dancers move in would emerge.  The underdresses are the same ones I made for us in March.

I think they came out okay, and everybody else seemed pleased.

We had a good time dancing and there were no major mess-ups.  We performed on Friday and Sunday and taught a class on ceili dance on Saturday. The only thing that I guess I could say went "wrong" was that on one day we had a really rude, crummy announcer who kept basically insulting our group. In essence, he said that we are all old women who are only in this group because no one else will have us, that we aren't good enough dancers to be in the dance schools or in competitions -  that we basically suck at dancing generally.  Everyone in the group felt bad and was pretty angry.

It was still a good time, though.  I love dancing, even when there are poop-heads in the vicinity.

Ooh! Inspiration to finish (start! heh) my own group of dance dresses. . .which have a deadline. Whoops!

Great pictures - always good to get them 'in motion' for reference.

Thank you - I agree, in-motion pictures are best for this sort of thing. It's easy to make a dress look perfect when the wearer is standing still, but that doesn't mean the dress will astually look like that!

Good luck on your dance dresses - sewing multiples can be frustrating!

Wow, what a bastard. Can you guys register a complaint against him?

I'm going to talk to the rest of the group about that at practice tomorrow. I for one would love to make a formal complaint, but I don't want to speak on behalf of the group without everyone's ok.
