Well, I haven't made too much progress on last week's goals, but I did make a little.
1.) I finished the apron for my sister.
Next up:
Today
Make bead earrings (for myself and for sister-presents)
Work on squares and bars pillow
Rest of week
Blue plaid bias skirt (I will overcome my fear of bias and do this!!)

1.) I finished the apron for my sister.
It's a suprise for her, so I'm modelling it here. It's basically the same pattern as my pear apron.
I love the dot fabric! I think the apron looks really cute and she is a stupid-head if she doesn't like it.
(You can probably sense the sisterly affection here.)
2.) Got some more of the embroidery done:
The colors are more true in this photo than the last one. Not much left to go! About 1/3, I think.
3.) Tried to finish the red wool teens-inspired skirt, decided that the trim idea was really stupid, wondered why I even bothered to try doing it that way, gave up, am looking for new trim.
Here's the coner where the layers are supposed to meet and aren't:
The trim is a 4" bias stirp of plain silk wrapped around a 2" bias strip of silk organza, so one edge is finished (a fold) and the other is raw (seam allowances). There are 3 wool panels all meeting and the two pieces of trim meeting at this corner. Even when I decided not to try to do the mitered corner, I still could not make this work properly.
I also decided that even if I did make it work, I really didn't like the idea of such delicate, easily wrinkled trim on what was supposed to be an everyday sklrt. It was just a dumb idea and I wish I hadn't started it.
Now I'm looking for some ribbon trim to achieve the same effect. If I use ribbon, I won't need to worry about finishing any edges; I can just apply it to the surface.
I'm ordering a swatch card from jkmribbon.com for their cotton/rayon petersham and for their silk satin ribbons. I'm not extremely hopeful though, because the whole make-my-own-bias-trim thing grew out of not being able to find any ribbon in the right color. But I might find something, and anyway, I'll have the swatch cards for other orders then.
