A Shirt!

I finished my HB's batik shirt yesterday.  I based it on the Laughing Moon informal shirt pattern, because it already fit him relatively well and because I really, really liked the collar.

(Those are the organic cotton denim jeans I made him, that I never shared a photo of.)

I moved the shoulder point up to sit on the natural shoulder, squared the hem, and made a few liitle fitting changes.  This shirt is the protoype for the 'new' pattern.

I included a collar stay slot in the under collar, in case the collar shrinks and gets flippy after a few washings, then a collar stay can be inserted.

I really like making front button plackets!  At first I was a little bummed that the triangle part flared out instead of keeping really square, but then I decided I like the flare.

There's a little wrinkledy annoyingness happening at the back near the armscye seam. I think on the next shirt, if I a.) move the back gathers a little closer to the center, b.) trim the back armscye a bit, and c.) add a little bit to the side seam on the front piece, the shirt will stop pulling in that area and will lie a little smoother.

The man is pleased with it.  Altogether, a pretty good casual summer shirt, I think!
