First of all, how is it Friday already? I think I have been sleeping too much. I think it's just that Pisces thing; I have a very active dreamlife.

Because I'm silly and I don't know what's good for me, I took on a new project for a friend of mine who works at the MN Renaissance Festival. I've worked for her before, a few times, and she's such fun. That plus the fact that she's paying me (which I still feel slightly guilty about, given that I've publicly given up the whole costumer-for-hire thing) was enough to make me want to take on the project.

I'm doing a whole new gown and a new corset for her. The corset is a typical Victorian style because she prefers the way they fit for comfort reasons (working 10 hour days in the hot sun every weekend for 2 months make a person really value comfort, even at the cost of historical authenticity) in a beautiful, wild, swirly, purple batik fabric. I started working on that a couple days ago. The dress is a fairly standard English-ish faire costume. I'm planning on draping a bodice pattern on her once the corset is done, follwing Sempstress's draping instructions.  Split front cartridge pleated skirt, fancy forepart on an underskirt, simple sleeves.

I'm hoping that I can get through this project relatively quickly, considering that I have lots of other stuff to do (Um, dance dresses that I haven't yet begun?).  The MN fest starts in August, so that gives me a bit more than a month.  I think I can manage it along with my other projects, especially since I have worked for her before and am familiar with her shape and preferences.

Ok, I need to go wash my hair, stitch boning channels on the aforementioned corset, put some more of the water applique onto the koi quilt, and work on my sadly neglected dragonfly embroidery.  I should really go work in the garden because the weeds are taking over, but it'll have to wait till tomorrow!
