hatpin holder

 I was cleaning out some dresser drawers yesterday and re-organzing some things, and I decided I needed a hatpin holder.  I've had a plan for a while to make one out of wood with carvings on it, and little holes in which to stick the pins.  But yesterday I realized that was stupid and unecessarily complicated.  I just needed a big pincushion!

Now I just need to make some more hatpins!  There's an old Threads article (in #85) about making hatpins from plain pin bases that I'm using for a reference.  (Then after that, I just need some more hats.)
 

Who's going to the LHS dance?

Hey all in the MN area, anyone else going to the Living History Society dance tomorrow night? You know, the cheap, informal one with pie? 

( If it makes it any more tempting, I'm making a sweet potato pie and a custard pie with whipped cream on top.  Both of them deliciously, wholly organic and raw-sugar-and-maple-syrup-sweetened!  With yummy whole wheat crusts!)
