new goodies
Oct. 7th, 2008 08:30 amI made the fabric shopping rounds yesterday, first Jo-Ann, then SR Harris, then Treadle. I was looking for my Halloween costume fabric and a few other things.
Found nothing at Jo-Ann; not too surprising, but they do tend to have cotton sateen most of the time.
At SR, I got several yards each of black and white solid color striped cotton sateen. It's lovely! I also got 4 yards of pink on white printed cotton in a toile pattern which I plan to use for an 1860s hoop petticoat (totally not the accurate thing, but it's undies, plus I just love toile). I finally went into the back corner of the store where they keep the denim and twill, and the staeen was buried in there somewhere.
At Treadle I picked up a yard each of two fantastically bright silk dupionis. I would have preferred taffeta, but dupioni just comes in so many more colors!
I started the petticoat for my Halloween costume yesterday. I need to do this quickly (but then, when don't I?) because I only have a couple weeks.
