Finished the breeches but for buttons and buttonholes.  I had some big fancy plans about piecing the striped suit fabric for the buttons to make concentric chevrons (like some buttons I saw in Fashion In Detail) and sewing them over wooden forms I bought ages ago from Wooded Hamlet. . .  but of course, simplicity won out in the end and I'm just making covered buttons with plain un-pieced self-fabric over modern store-boughten metal forms.  Still, I think they will look nice.

I'm starting to think I really don't like 18th c men's wear.  I'm longing to make him another Victorian suit.  So much more manly.

Anyway, today I need to finish the buttons/holes/hooks&eyes and make the vest mock-up.  I need to lengthen the vest a lot and I'm hoping it won't be too much of a challenge making it fit properly.  As for the coat, I've already gotten the pattern as near perfect as possible, so it's just a matter of cutting and sewing it.  Minimal interlining + no shoulder pads + no collar or lapels = very simple construction.  I guess that's one thing to like about 18th c men's wear.
