I finished this last week. I didn't have matchy buttons so I just used black. Black goes with everything!

The pattern is Pebble and it was simple and relatively quick, even for a slow knitter like me. I used Debbie Bliss Donegal Tweed yarn, which seemed really stiff in the skein but softened up very nicely after knitting and even more after washing.

Not bad, eh?

I made him the shirt last year.  I can't quite remember, but I think I made it to go with the first 18th c suit I tried to make him (which was of course eventually scrapped).

The vest is a linen/cotton blend which I am pretty sure is the exact same fabric I made my riding habit/ pirate costume from last summer.  I haven't compared them, but they look the same and both came from Jo-Ann.  The vest front is lined with the same stuff, just because I had enough, and the back is lined with leftover grey/natural colored linen which I pieced a little to make big enough.  The buttons were from a shirt I made years ago which I ripped apart when I decided it didn't fit properly.  (I was being very frugal here!)  They are brass-tone with a mandala-like design.

The breeches are a very light 100% linen.  They are unlined.  I made him some knee-length underdrawers for the TCCG underwear party which he's got on under the breeches here.  These breeches are so overly complicated.  I don't know what is wrong with people sometimes, they weird ways they invent clothes.  I really don't think tailors had gotten the hang of pants until the 1840s.

Anyway, both of these garments are now totally done.  I plan to make a post on how I did the pockets on the vest, which I am particularly pleased with, in the near future, when I have time (like after the event).
