This morning I finished a couple T-shirts.
Yep, I'm wearing my jammies.
They're both from the same pattern, one I traced from a thrift store shirt. and the fabrics are both lightweight jersey, but the green stripedy one fits a little tighter, for some reason. I cut the neckline a little lower on that one, too.
I sewed all the seams on the serger. Both necklines are finished with a folded strip of off-white fine cotton ribbing. Sew U said to make your ribbing about 2/3 the length of the neckline; I did some swatches and found that about 3/4 worked better for these fabrics. Sleeve ends and bottom hems were overlocked, turned once, and stitched in place with a 3-step zig-zag.
I finished the white floral one last week, but the neckline was too high and chokey, so I trimmed it down and added new ribbing. I had also decided that the ribbing I used was too heavy for this jersey.
Here's what it looked like before:
Here are details of the hem and (old) neckline on the floral shirt:

I'm still a little torn on the white ribbing for the green shirt. Maybe too much contrast? I might wear it a couple times before I decide.
