current projects
Aug. 16th, 2010 12:12 pmToday the weather is so beautiful; cool and breezy and sunny. I really want to take the girl for a walk up to the fabric store, but I am trying not to buy anything new for a while.
Finally we are all almost well, there are no houseguests, and my Irish Fair commitments are over. What I really want to do is get in the sewing room and be productive, but it is currently a total wreck, since I am trying to sift through the fabrics, downsize a little, clean, and re-organize.
Which is what makes fabric shopping so tempting right now. Why face my giant mess when I can go get something new and pretty?
My goal is not to buy fabrics or materials for any new projects until I finish these current and upcoming ones that I already have most or all of the stuff for:
Applique hangings - I think the urn is done. I need to start fusing and sewing the tree. I want to have them done by F's birthday in Sept.
Coasters - yes, I am lame. I make coasters. I already have the fabrics cut for these.
Ikea bag - an 'outing bag' for short bus trips and going to the park with F; made from some cute Ikea fabric I got a few weeks ago.
Red wool skirt - a very light wool I got last spring. I need a skirt with some cute decorative pleats at the hem.
Cards - Okay, these are made of paper, so they might not quite fit in this list, but I want to finish them before starting more sewing projects.
So it is not very much! But still, at my current rate it will take me at least a few weeks to drag through these.
Maybe there is some thread or something I need which can justify the walk. Or maybe we will go to the hardware store and buy doorstops. Of course we can just go for a walk around the neighborhood, but I find aimless meandering to be so dull.
