After the ball, the first project I tackled was cleaning the house and the sewing room. Next I took down my christmas tree. Then sewing could happen. I started with 2 days of mending, blah, but now I am back to actually making things.
I promised myself I'd sew something easy and sew something for my HB before I dove into making stays. So today F helped me while I made her a pair of pants; pink corduroy with a contrast cuff in a floral print that she chose from the stash (well, "chose" from a list of pre-approved options). It's so sweet how she loves to help me sew! She sits on my lap while I run the machine and we both hold the fabric. Even when she is getting in the way a little I hate to crush her curiosity and enthusiasm. When she gets bored of sewing she reads dolly books in my sewing room, and that's nice, too.
Next, a wool vest for my man. Today I took the pattern out and made a couple sizing adjustments, and tomorrow I will work on the vest. I already have the wool and lining, I just need a zipper. I wonder if I can talk him into patch pockets as opposed to double-welt?
After that I'll start the stays. My old stays are almost right, but not quite, so I plan to just tweak that pattern a little, and make them both front and back lacing, so I can actually get them on myself while still having adjustment room in back.
