Made of cotton that was on sale (40% off) at Treadle and using a pattern I already had, this dress was a bargain for my sister!

Oh, plus the fact that my labor on it was free, of course.

I really think I should have darted or gathered the bodice bottom, because my sister is full-busted for her ribcage size, like me, and leaving it as the pattern was makes it stick out funny and fold up under the tie.  Whatever, she likes it, and a dress that is perfect no longer feels casual.  Or at least that is what I tell myself.

I altered the neckline from a boat to a scoop, bound neckline and armholes with bias tape.  It has a CB zip.  I liked the way the pattern has you finish the hem; the contast band, cut shaped, like the skirt, is seamed on, then along the bottom, a straight-grain strip of main-color fabric is used like a very wide double-fold binding.

I'm not sure why I chose last week to make this, because I have so much I ought to sew right now; in fact I am getting into a crunch with Ren fest costumes, and I had better start focusing!
