For 16-17C menswear, Janet Arnold of course! For tailoring I'd recommend, "Tailoring, the Classic Guide to Sewing the Perfect Jacket". It's got the same info as many of my other tailoring texts, but with lots of glossy photos. The Cabrera book is written for professionals and way beyond my skill level. But I like to have it around - I rarely use the techniques, but at the same time it's good to puzzle through.
