I made something!

On my serger!
Most people I've met have very strong feelings about leggings - they either love them or hate them. I used to hate them and now I love them.
I definitely don't plan to wear them this way, but under a skirt! (They're leggings, not pants!) I just didn't have one handy when I had a moment for photos.

I tried the blind hem stitch on the serger for the leg bottoms. The idea is to loosen the tension on two of the threads and tighten it on the other so the stitches pull open and lie flat. Mine is a little messy, but I can see it has definite possibilities.

I wasn't sure what elastic to use for the waist. One of the Treadle ladies suggested this to me:

It's several strands of cord-type elastic aligned in some nylon mesh/web stuff. It's lightweight and non-bulky, and I like the way it worked, except that I accidentaly trimmed some of it off with the serger blade and now there are a few stiff nylon ends poking out. But I folded the edge over twice instead of just once and now most of those ends are concealed. But I think I will look for a lightweight sew-through elastic next time.
I sewed these entirely on the serger except for the waistband finishing, which I did with a 3-step zig-zag on the sewing machine.

The pattern, Kwik Sew 3636, ran a bit large for me when I cut out by my waist measure. I cut out the "very close-fitting" style, and I ended up trimming off some extra from the legs so these would hug my body a bit more. Next time I will just go down a size.
The fabric is rayon jersey with a little spandex. It was wiggly and unstable and the serger sewed it beautifully.
