Last Sunday night was my dance group's meeting to discuss costumes, group issues, etc. We're moving into Costumes: Phase 2, the Overdresses. As before, we had a good deal of idea-throwing, with no real consensus at the end and, also as before, I am left hopelessly confused about what everyone wants me to do.

It always seems to ge to the point where just when I think I have a clear picture, someone says "but wouldn't it be cool if we did X?" and "How feasable if that?" and the discussion begins anew. I think I am in complete disagreement with everyone on the subject of embroidery, though. Typical Irish dance dresses are generally covered with tons of gaudy embroidery, applique, and spangles in clashing, neon colors and are very stiff, some almost like cardboard.  I really wanted our costumes to look unique, soft, flowy, and womanly.  I don't want us to be weighted down with lots of heavy embroidery.  But I think everyone else thinks we won't look "Irish enough" if we aren't embroidered all over.  Also, it does kind of bum me out that after so much squabbling over my prices, they are more than willing to shell out lots of money for intricate embroidery.

Anyway, I need to do a mock-up for this Sunday so they can either approve and get started or try to figure something else out.  Either way, I'm not looking forward to it.  This is the last project-for-pay that I need to finish.
