Some progress

elizabeth_mnWell, if being sick isn't stopping me from working, then family visits are. Both are finally over, though!
Today I finished this shirt for my man. It's cotton lawn, and mostly machine-sewn. I hand-hemmed the front split and anywhere else I thought might show, but machined everything that will be hidden when he is fully dressed.
If it looks lumpy, please remember it's on my (lady) dressform.
It closes with white shell buttons and thread chain loops. I turned them to the inside to keep the front edges flush.
Square underarm gusset. The sleeves are huge. HUGE. I followed the diagram in The Cut Of Men's Clothes, and I even made my sleeve narrower, but it's still enormous. I call my hubs Captain HugeSleeves when he puts this on.
High side vent with triangular gusset.
And similar, hard-to-see wrist gusset. I love these types of details; this is a way of reconciling a flat-felled seam with two hemmed edges, and the bias edge provides a little stretch to make the split more durable.
I've also made some progress on the SuperHighWaist breeches, and started drafting a collar for the waistcoat. More on that soon.
