I've been kind of unproductive this week - not surprising since I think I am still recovering from all the large projects I finished a few weeks ago and all the events and outings we had.  Plus there really aren't any events coming up, so I don't have any big projects planned.

Last week I finished knitting my little pink half-a-hat. I still need to find a button for it, but otherwise, it's done.

I've been making some new flannel jammies (with spaceships and aliens!) for the HB and myself.

Mending, craft projects (I made another little fabric box), and household stuff have eaten up the rest of my time.

Besides that, I've been determinedly ignoring the one project that has any kind of deadline: my ballgown bodice for tomorrow night's Autumn Ball.

It's been over a year now, but the original plan was to have a ballgown bodice to go with the skirts from my wedding dress (in my icon).  I made the ballgown bodice last winter, and it's fine, except for the sleeves.  I tried a couple different things, but I could not make them work and not look dorky.  Today I finally pulled the bodice out after months of being forgotten in the closet and tried to do something about the sleeves. The current ones looked okay, but they were cut with too high a cap, I didn't have much movement; I could not even get my arm at a 90 degree angle to my body.  I worked on it for a few hours, made some new sleeves that had a nice range of movement, but they look stupid, they're way too big and puffy.

I don't think it would even bother me that much if the neckline trim wasn't also acting wonky.  The pleats are all sticking straight out, instead of laying flat.  I think the only thing I could do to them is tack each pleat down to the next one inside so they don't spread.  Since the ball is tomorrow, I really don't want to bother with that.  And since the new sleeves are not even finished, I don't want to have to hurry just to have a mediocre effect.  I should have done it two weeks ago, then I would have had the time to fix all the little stupid parts!  But I will never learn.

So I guess I will just wear my wedding dress with the day bodice again.  I always feel a bit inappropriate in my daywear at balls, but oh well, it'll have to do.  I wonder if I should even bother with the ballgown bodice anymore or if I should just start thinking about a whole new ballgown?
