2015: Sewing Review

The first thing I finished in 2015 was this lilac-color 1860s ballgown.

I made a new hat and capelet to dress up my Victorian winter look.

A great modern party dress that I LOVE.

Got to welcome my closest friend's baby with a little quilt.

Probably my favorite costume of the year was this green and blue ruffled silk bustle dress, with day and evening bodices.

In the summer I made this entirely handsewn silk taffeta robe a l'anglaise. I also made new bum pads and petticoats and attempted some Big Hair to go with it.

My last historic costume of the year for myself was my 1880s Little House dress made in printed cotton.

I turned my bright green regency dress into a creepy moss-covered fairy.

I made The Girl a new dress from the Tudor Child patterns to wear at the Renaissance Festival.

And threw together some witchy/wizardy Halloween costumes.

I made pants for The Girl.

And some modern things for myself.

And of course, a dozen knitted christmas balls.

I am really pleased with all the things I made this year! I made some big fancy costumes that I love. I abandoned a couple projects but I didn't have any really spectacular fails.
My sewing goals for this year included:
Focus on Costume Sewing: nailed it.
Stashbusting: I did okay at this, with the orange anglaise and Little House both coming from (recent) stash, as well as several modern things.
Attend Local Events: I wish I had done more, but I did go to a ball, a luncheon, ice skating, and a picnic.
Accessories, Shoes and Hair: hair maybe, shoes a little, but accessories not so much.
More Time Sewing: It's really hard for me to gauge this. I must have sewed because I finished things, but I know I didn't take advantage of every available moment. When The Girl started school I really got into a slump. But overall I got a lot done, so I am gonna say I did okay on this one.
I am just writing up my list of 2016 goals, and I'll post it soon!
