riding habit (pirate) bodice mock-up

Mostly notes to myself on fitting.
I pleated the skirt, drafted/enlarged the pattern from the Cut of Women's Clothes, and sewed the mock-up together. I got myself into my stays and tried the whole thing on.

The neckline was way too high, so I clipped it down a lot. This, of course, changed the length of the shoulder seam, so I'll need to make that longer.
It's a little tight it in the bust, but that's easily fixed at the CF. I didn't draft in the horizontal bust dart, but left it to be pinned in during the fitting, which worked nicely.
The jacket's skirts are uneven, but I might just guesstimate on the difference, then trim it level on the actual bodice.

The back looks good. I'm hoping the little wrinkles coming from the CB seam are simply a result of the drawn-up tension from the loose basting. The little wrinkle near the armscye looks like it could be clipped away. The only thing I'm concerned about is the back waistline; I think I see an unhappy fold there, but I'm not sure.
Overall, I thought it fit pretty well! Onto the next mock-up, which hopefully will be the last, and finishing the skirt.
Still hunting for buttons. I'm torn between one with a ship's wheel design and one with a plainer circle design, both in antique gold color. I'm trying to keep it under $20, which for 28 buttons is a little hard. So many pretty buttons! And I'm sure I won't get a really historically accurate design, but oh well.
Yesterday I also put together a little corset bag from a nice white-on-white striped cotton remnant and a scrap of leftover self-fabric corset binding. It has a ribbon drawstring and a little lace at the top. It's so cute I couldn't resist sharing it.
