I spent about an hour and a half thread-tracing all the markings for the hoopskirt's boning channels yesterday. The white chalk didn't show up, I didn't want to fuss with washable marker, and I didn't want to get stabbed by a million pins.
Then I sewed the CF seam and realized I had sewed both front panels the wrong way around; the print is on the correct side, but the panels are swapped and the CF side is actually sewed to the side seam. A more finicky sewist would have ripped all the lovely seams out and re-sewn, but I am not very finicky. Plus, the front panels are nearly symmetrical, and the fabric is a bit delicate, so I didn't want to stress it by ripping. (And why I am making a hoopskirt out of a somewhat delicate fabric, I have no idea.)
I hemmed the bottom with a narrow hem. The pattern suggested a wide hem to enclose a row of boning in, but I didn't like the idea of turning a wide hem on such a large curve and having it be all lumpy. I'll just sew a row of twill tape right at the hem for a bone casing.
The first week of November is almost over and I am dismayed at how little progress I've made in my November projects. Not like it's much of a suprise, though.
